Match 4 -Angling Times Winter League was held on the canal at Bath between Darlington Wharf and Claverton.
It was 70 pegs and was held on the 29th November 2009.
It was very cold and hard going in most places, Most sections needed Bloodworm and Joker. Darlington Wharf was the place to be where most of the top weights came from. Thatchers made the most of the individual end pegs that they drew with 4 of the top 6 coming from their team. Kevin Boltz of Amalgamated Fisheries won the match with 10lb 8oz. He was fishing at Darlington Wharf between the wires and the footbridge. He had a skimmer of 1.8lb plus roach on bread and he finished off his fantastic weight with perch caught on chopped worm. Liam Braddell of Thatchers had 9lb 10oz. He finished in 2nd place, he was also pegged at Darlington, he caught Roach on bread and castor. 3rd Nicky Ewers Thatchers 8lb 9oz, 4th Mark Brennan Thatchers 7lb 8oz, 5th Matin Barratt Thatchers 7lb 7oz, and joint 6th Shane Caswell Amalgamated Fisheries Keynsham Angling and Andy Ottaway Sensas Bathampton Avon Aquatics 6lb 15 oz

Team wise it is still anyone of 3 teams that could win overall with just one match left Thatchers are winning on 9 points, closely followed by Bathampton on 10 points and then Thyers on 11 points. Sensas Veals 20 Maver Veals 25 Amalgamated Fisheries Keynsham Angling 28 BAC 32
Match 3 - Angling Times Winter League held on the Avon between Swineford and Fry’s.
It was horrendous conditions with torrential rain at times, gale force winds and millions of leaves totally covering the river. Some fantastic weights were to be had though especially at Swineford where the Bream were incredibly hungry for the top 2 individuals. Thyer’s showed that they are used to fishing in winds by being top team on the day, closely followed by Thatchers. Thatchers now have a 2 point overall lead from Bathampton. Team wise Shane Caswell did really well for us winning his section with 9lb 8oz, he was at the Crane in the little ashtip field just above the bay. Mike also did well taking 4 points from Fry’s on the wires.

Match 2 - Angling Times Winter League
Below I have the results of the S.W.W.L. 2nd round which
was held at Newbridge in Bath. It was very clear and hardly moving again and
it was incredibly hard going for most people with the roach not really wanting
to come out to play. Perch was the majority of most people’s catches apart
from the odd pegs where they managed to get Bream. Most of the Bream came on
in the last 2 hours.
Vincent Lunn did very well for us winning his section and finishing 6th in the
match. He weighed in 10lb 2oz which consisted of a Bream of 7lb 2oz, roach and
perch. Dave Haines was 3rd in the section and Mike Goodhind and Kevin Boltz
both finished 4th. Our team did not do too well overall today though I’m
afraid.

| 2nd | Lance Tucker | Sensas Thyers | 40 : 13 | Lance was struggling and only had 1 perch until the last one and a half hours when the Bream moved in to his feed he caught 12 Bream on a flat float at about 12 meters. He was on peg 38. |
| 3rd | Darren Gilman | Sensas Bathampton Avon Aquatics | 21 : 06 | Darren just had a few perch on the pole, but he had fed early right over up against the tree, and he caught his Bream in the last 2 hours. He had 5 Bream in 6 chucks. Darren was on peg 33. |

Match 1 - Angling Times Winter League
There were some staggering weights caught on the Bristol Avon which was very clear and hardly moving. In most area’s you needed double figures to win the section, a lot of anglers had problems with pike, there are so many in the river now they are taking fish up to 11/2lb, yet despite the pike there were still some fantastic weights caught. Bathampton and Thatcher’s both jointly won the 1st round, Thyer’s finished 3rd missing out by 1 point. They were closely followed by Maver Veals with 46 points and then Amalgamated Fisheries with 41 points. Team wise I was really happy, I thought the team done really well to finish in 5th place, we weren’t that far away from any of the teams finishing with 41 points. Mike Kent shone for us by winning his section and finishing 6th in the match. Mike was on the small wall in the 1st field of the Crane, he had a brilliant weight of 16lb 14oz of roach and chublets, which he caught on the pole and then the feeder. The top 5 individuals all came from Swineford.Paul Barnfield finished 2nd in his section with 9lb 151/2oz, he was on the fence just over the cattlegrid on the Crane, Kevin Boltz also finished 2nd in his section with 7lb 02oz, he was at Fry’s on permanent peg 43. Rich Schollar finished 3rd in his section also from Fry’s.

It slowed down a bit when he started having problems with pike but he continued catching roach dace and perch to make up his staggering weight. |
| 2nd | Shaun Townsend | Sensas Bathampton Avon Aquatics | 28 : 06 | Shaun drew the 1st peg on the outfall at Swineford where he also had a fantastic day, catching 11lb of roach up in the water on a waggler. | 3rd | Tim Ford |
Preston Innovations Thatchers | 23 : 14 | Tim pegged next to Shaun on the outfall and he also had a great day with his catch of roach on the stick float finishing off with about 17lb of bream which he caught on the groundbait feeder with ½ lobworm |
